Selank is a peptide that is a synthetic analog of tuftsin (discovered at Tufts University) a natural immune stimulating peptide. Selank was developed in Russia and is available in the US through compounding pharmacies.  Unlike other peptides, which need to be taken as an injection, this one is a convenient nasal spray. It has various effects on nerve cells to decrease anxiety, improve cognitive functions and more. Learn more about Selank peptide benefits and side effects.

Many Selank studies have been done on rats, however, one study by the NIH showed very positive results in humans.  The Study showed improved generalized anxiety, PTSD, depression, as well as attention deficit disorder.

Here are some of the possible benefits of taking Selank:

  • Enhance memory
  • Reduce anxiety and depression
  • Reduce stress levels
  • Improve attention span
  • Elevate BDNF levels (brain-derived neurotrophic factor)

BDNF is a protein that helps to support existing neurons and encourage growth of new ones.

To our knowledge, Selank can also be taken along with other antianxiety medications, like SSRIs. Selank has various effects on the nerve cells and may have similar effects of benzodiazepines without the addiction and withdrawals symptoms.

Side Effects of Selank

These are the possible side effects you may experience:

  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue

Selank is also not available in stores. It’s important to speak with your doctor before starting a new peptide therapy. Twin Cities Integrative Medicine is able to prescribe Selank through our compounding pharmacy.
