  • Not all insulin syringes use the same tick-to-volume ratio. U-100 syringes (the most common) have 100 units per 1mL barrel. Each tick equals 0.01mL. U-50 syringes have 50 units per 0.5mL barrel. Each tick still equals 0.01mL, but the total capacity is half. If you're used to drawing 20 ticks on a U-100 syringe for a 200mcg dose (at 1mg/mL concentration), switching to a U-50 syringe doesn't change the tick count. 20 ticks still delivers 0.2mL, which still contains 200mcg at that concentration. The difference is barrel capacity, not tick volume.
  • Fixed-dose syringes (0.3mL, 0.5mL) follow the same principle but with fewer total ticks. A 0.3mL U-100 syringe has 30 total tick marks. Each still represents 0.01mL. The math doesn't change; the range does. These smaller syringes are preferred for low-volume peptide dosing because they allow more precise tick counting when your dose is 10–30 ticks instead of spreading across a larger barrel.
  • Tubercular (TB) syringes are 1mL capacity but marked in 0.01mL increments without the "unit" label. Functionally identical to U-100 syringes for peptide use. The key distinction is labeling clarity: TB syringes display volume directly (0.1mL, 0.2mL), while insulin syringes display units (10 IU, 20 IU). Both measure the same volume; TB syringes just skip the IU terminology entirely. For CJC-1295 dosing, either works. But TB syringes eliminate one layer of mental conversion.
