Water has been removed under vacuum, leaving a crystalline peptide structure that resists oxidation and hydrolysis at room temperature for limited periods. Reconstituted BPC-157 (mixed with bacteriostatic water for injection) becomes thermally labile the moment water reintroduces hydrolytic pathways that break peptide bonds.
  • Lyophilized BPC-157 stored at 25°C for 30 days shows 8–12% potency loss according to accelerated degradation testing. Exponentially slower than reconstituted peptides, which lose 20–35% potency in the same timeframe. The mechanism: peptide bond hydrolysis accelerates logarithmically above 8°C once water is present. Lyophilized peptides lack the aqueous environment required for rapid hydrolysis, making them far more forgiving during accidental temperature excursions.
  • Reconstituted BPC-157 must be stored at 2–8°C and used within 28 days even under ideal conditions. Temperature excursions above 15°C trigger irreversible aggregation. Peptide chains clump together into insoluble complexes that cannot be reversed by re-cooling. This is why a reconstituted vial left at room temperature overnight is almost certainly compromised, while an unreconstituted vial in the same scenario retains most of its original potency. Our experience shows most storage failures happen post-reconstitution, not during lyophilized storage. Researchers follow cold chain protocols religiously until the peptide is mixed, then relax vigilance during daily handling.
