- BPC-157 stands apart for gut-specific applications due to sheer volume of gastric ulcer, inflammatory bowel, and mucosal barrier studies. KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) tripeptide shows anti-inflammatory effects in colitis models by blocking NF-κB, but it doesn't promote angiogenesis or structural repair the way BPC-157 does. Thymosin Beta-4 accelerates wound healing systemically, yet published research focuses on cardiac and skeletal muscle. Not gastrointestinal tissue.
- For IBS specifically, no peptide has human trial data. BPC-157's mechanistic overlap with IBS pathophysiology (barrier function, visceral pain modulation, inflammation control) makes it the most biologically plausible candidate, but plausibility isn't efficacy. The compound addresses root mechanisms rather than symptoms, which could explain why anecdotal reports describe delayed onset of effect (2–4 weeks) rather than immediate relief.
